An Apple Pay launch in Israel may be just days away - TechnW3

Apple Pay may be coming to another country.

What you need to know

  • Apple Pay may be launching soon in Israel.
  • Israeli bank Pepper announced support for the service in its most recent update.
  • Attempting to add the card to the Wallet app, however, reports an error.

Pepper, an online financial services company in Israel may have revealed the launch of Apple Pay in the country. While it was originally thought the service would launch in the country by the end of 2020, it appears that it may be closer to the end of the first quarter of 2021.

According to a report from The Verifier (via Google Translate), Apple is planning to officially launch the service when the support of the EMV system surpasses 40% in the country, which apparently has already happened.

Today, Pepper released a new version of their iOS app (version 6.3.2) that surprised customers with the ability to add their debit and credit cards to the Wallet app on the iPhone which should set users up to use their cards with Apple Pay.

Today (Wednesday, 24.02), the credit card company and the Internet bank Pepper ( Pepper ), began sending new app version (6.3.2) for iPhone users a few hours ago, when the update description reads "Version surprise! We have prepared a surprise for you. Waiting for the moment when we can share with you… ".

However, doing so right now returns an error message. The bank has removed the message from the update, but it seems the cat is now out of the bag.

When you try to add the credit card to Apple Pay, you receive an error message that warns you that the card or bank does not support the service. Pepper, for its part, has already removed the message from the last update, so if you still see the message, it may disappear in the next update.

According to the report, all of the necessary steps have been taken and banks are ready to begin offering the service once Apple is ready to turn it on.

Bank Leumi , Hapoalim and the International Group and the credit card companies are all ready to launch the Apple Pay service in Israel. And now they are waiting for the switch to be lifted on Apple's servers so that it will finally be possible to pay with the iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac.

Apple Pay is expected to come to the country within days to a few weeks, but an actual launch date is still unknown. The service also just launched in Mexcio after months of speculation.
