Apple's long-awaited 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a Mini-LED display could launch as soon as the end of March.
According to a new report by DigiTimes (via MacRumors), GIS, a popular supply chain partner of Apple's when it comes to touch displays, is ramping up capacity for new products.
Taiwanese touch panel maker GIS plans to expand its backend module capacity for new products at its factory in Chengdu, China, according to industry sources cited in a report today from supply chain publication DigiTimes.
According to the report, one of the new products is likely the rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro with Mini-LED display. Those familiar with the supply chain believe the tablet could see a release date in the coming weeks.
One of the new products will likely be Apple's long-rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a Mini-LED display, which is slated to launch at the end of March or early in the second quarter, the industry sources said. The timeframe suggests that the device could be announced by Apple within the next few weeks, or in April at the latest.
In addition to the new display, the 2021 iPad Pro is expected to feature 5 connectivity for its cellular model as well as a new processor.
According to rumors, Apple is planning a processor boost to its iPad Pro. As previously mentioned, the introduction of the A14 chip to the iPad Air leaves a need for the iPad Pro to push past this in order to distinguish itself as the 'Pro' iPad. To that end, Apple could go one of two ways, firstly an A14 'X' chip, as it has done in previous versions.
