What you need to know

  • Apple is rumored to be planning new colors for its iPhone 12 case lineup.
  • A new image depicting all four has surfaced on Twitter.
  • It matches a previous rumor about four new colors of Apple's MagSafe case.

A new image has surfaced of Apple's rumored new MagSafe cases for iPhone 12.

On Monday, a Twitter user by the name of Tommy Boi shared this image:

The leak is from a hitherto unknown source, however, the colors match exactly a leak shared earlier this month from a more reliable source. On April 2 DuanRui shared images depicting the four rumored new colors, and as you can see they match exactly:

The images, taken from Weibo, largely match the iPhone 11 cases Apple released in the spring of 2020. These cases are usually released towards the end of March or the start of April, so are definitely overdue by the usual timings. Tommy Boi says the cases are silicone, and that the colors are named as follows: Pistachio, Capri Blue, Cantaloupe, Amethyst.

It could be that they are quietly (or not quietly) released alongside other products at Apple's April 20 event. In a huge turnup earlier today, Apple's voice assistant Siri appears to have spilled the beans on an April 20 Apple event, from that report:

Apple's helpful voice accident Siri appears to have just revealed Apple's plans for an April event, telling users that it will take place on April 20 when asked.

First spotted by MacRumors, there are numerous reports that on asking Siri when the next Apple event is it replies:

The special event is on Tuesday, April 20, at Apple Park in Cupertino, CA. You can get all the details on Apple.com

If the event is to happen (and it seems like it definitely will at this stage), Apple is likely to release a new iPad Pro as well as AirTags.
