Android isn't making a dent with teenagers in the United States.

Nine out of ten teens own an iPhone instead of an Android phone now.
According to a new report from Piper Sandler, which completed a survey of more than 7,000 teenagers in the United States, 88% of teens said that they have an iPhone. Even more interesting, 90% of them expect their next phone to also be an iPhone. Both of these are apparently all-time highs for the survey.
The good news isn't contained to just the iPhone for Apple, either. While cash is still the number one form of payment for teenagers, Apple Pay is the second most popular payment method. Venmo is reportedly the most popular payment app over competitors like the Cash app or Paypal.
Unfortunately, Apple TV+ has yet to see a major breakthrough with that group as Netflix and YouTube still reign supreme as the most popular ways to consume video.

The Piper Sandler Taking Stock With Teens®survey is a semi-annual research project that gathers input from 7,000 teens with an average age of 16.1 years. Discretionary spending patterns, fashion trends, technology, and brand and media preferences are assessed through surveying a geographically diverse subset of high schools across the U.S. Since the project began in 2001, Piper Sandler has surveyed more than 201,800 teens and collected over 49.7 million data points on teen spending.
The iPhone figures line up with an earlier report from SellCell which found that brand loyalty with Apple hit an all-time high in 2020. 92% of customers say that they are loyal to Apple as a brand, an increase from 90.5% of customers in 2019.
