No More Heroes 3 is ridiculously fun — here's everything you need to know! - TechnW3

Travis returns in an all-new hack and slash adventure.

The No More Heroes series is responsible for some of the best action games on the Nintendo Switch, so it's no surprise that many Nintendo Switch owners are stoked about the latest entry in the series. No More Heroes 3 a hack and slash adventure by fan-favorite game designer, Suda 51, and puts Travis Touchdown in the hero role for once — well, maybe. Here's everything you need to know about No More Heroes 3.

What is the plot of No More Heroes 3?

Aliens have destroyed a major city and have made themselves comfortable on earth. With no one to oppose them, the aliens decide to host an Intergalactic Superhero Ranking Tournament to decide earth's fate. Travis must wield his beam katana once more and fight his way to the top to save the world. The game takes place two years after Travis Strikes Again in Santa Destroy, Travis Touchdown's hometown.

What is gameplay like?

Travis takes part in the tournament to save the world, but he just can't fight in the tournament. No, that would be easy. Instead, Travis is forced to take on odd jobs in order to pay for the entry fee like mowing the lawn, or unclogging toilets. Afterward, you'll have to fight in various challenges that are based on many different videogame genres.

Travis will regularly use the Death Glove from Travis Strikes Again as a way to upgrade and customize his move set. We can expect a lot of over-the-top action aside ordinary real-life activities to the brilliantly absurd scenarios the No More Heroes series is known for.

Are there motion controls?

Fans of the original No More Heroes and its sequel No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle are well acquainted with the game's motion controls. Well, you'll be happy to know that motion controls are available in No More Heroes 3. Use the Joy-Cons to hack, slash, suplex, and mow the grass. Technology is sick!

What characters are in No More Heroes 3?

There are several memorable characters in No More Heroes 3, but these are the most important ones.

  • Damon Riccitiello - The CEO of Utopinia, a tech empire and childhood friend of FU.
  • Shinobu Jacobs - She has a love/hate releationship with Travis and displays it with her sword.
  • Henry Cooldown - Travis's twin brother and rival.
  • Sylvia Christel - A former agent at the United Assassins Association who now serves as a secretary at Utopinia.
  • FU - An alien out to conquer the world.
  • Badgirl - Was killed by Travis long ago but "got better".
  • Mr. Blackhole - A wormhole bandit who was in Travis Strikes Again, but in another form.

Do I need to play the previous No More Heroes games?

No More Heroes 3 is the third installment in the main series (and fourth in the series overall), but do you have to play the previous games in the series to fully appreciate No More Heroes 3? Well, yes and no. While the story does follow the exploits of Travis Touchdown after the events of the previous games, the plots of each game are standalone pretty well. However, there are plenty of characters from previous games that do appear, and Travis Strikes Again does expand the No More Heroes lore in a huge way, so if you don't want to miss any detail in No More Heroes 3, you'll want to play the previous titles.

Luckily for you, No More Heroes, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, and Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes are all available to download on the Nintendo eShop now.
