Netflix has today made its first iPhone games available, with a handful of titles now offered for download from the App Store.
The games themselves will soon appear as listings in the Netflix app, but tapping them takes people to the App Store which is where the downloads are handled. That allows Apple to vet each game via its app review process — something similar services like Game Club also have to do.

Existing Netflix subscribers can play these games free of charge with no ads or game-related in-app purchases to get in the way of the fun. If that sounds familiar, it should — it's what makes Apple Arcade so compelling. Netflix's catalog is much, much smaller right now but expect that to change in due course. Whether Netflix will ultimately be a viable competitor to Apple Arcade, however, we'll have to wait and see.
Interestingly, the games themselves do appear to have in-app purchases for a Netflix subscription, suggesting people can sign-up in-game. IAPs listed as "Netflix Standard Plan" and priced at $13.99 are currently available in all of the currently available titles.
