What you need to know

  • The Future Tech Award winners have been announced.
  • The awards cover both the best tech products and the most influential people in tech.
  • Apple's Tim Cook and Jeff Williams both made this year's list.

It's time again for Future to recognize the top people and products in the tech industry with the Future Tech Awards. This year, the awards are split into two categories: the Future Choice, which recognizes the best products, and the Future 50, which awards the most influential people in the industry. In both cases, this year saw an impressive lineup of winners.

Let's start with the Future 50. iMore readers should recognize a number of people in the Future 50 lineup. Apple CEO Tim Cook and COO Jeff Williams both landed spots on the list, as did Apple's SVP of Hardware Engineering John Ternus, and Director of Health, Divya Nag. Also among the winners are Netflix CMO and former Apple Music marketing executive Bozoma Saint John, Disney CEO Bob Chapek, and Zoom CMO Janine Pelosi.

Moving over to the Future Choice award winners, Apple took the top spot in several categories. Future has recognized the iPhone 13 Pro camera as the best smartphone camera you can get right now, and the Apple Watch Series 7 as the top smartwatch. The 2020 27-inch iMac is still the best desktop computer you can get your hands on. And if you're interested in some of the other winners from the list, be sure to check out Windows Central and Android Central for more in-depth coverage of those products.

Of course, the Future Choice awards cover the whole of the tech sphere. If you're looking for a collection that's a little more Apple-centric, you can check out iMore's list of the Best of 2021, which covers a broader range of excellent products from across the Apple ecosystem.
