What you need to know
- Nintendo announced a new Kirby game for Nintendo Switch.
- Kirby's Dream Buffet is a platformer that features Kirby and his friends as they roll around sweet pastry landscapes.
- The game is set to release in Summer 2022.
Nintendo is known for its stealth drop announcements on social media for upcoming games, and today is just another one of those days. As was the case in 2020, the company decided to announce their first party titles on social media instead of during a Nintendo Direct, which was reserved for their Partner Showcase. Today a new Kirby game was announced on their official Twitter accounts, called Kirby's Dream Buffet. It's a platformer that sees multiple Kirbys (Kirbies?) and Waddle Dees rolling around, collecting fruits as they traverse landscapes resembling baked goods, ice cream, and all manner of things sweet.

The sweet landscapes are reminiscent of Yoshi's Crafted World, except with edible platforms instead of paper crafts and the like. From the little information shown in the game's trailer, it seems to be a point-based multiplayer game, though not much about the end goals of the game was revealed. Kirby's Dream Buffet will also by a Nintendo Switch eShop exclusive, so no shiny box for the physical game collectors out there. No release date was revealed outside of "Summer 2022", which could be anywhere from June 21 to September 21, but we'll be sure to keep you posted should any news arise.
